Toe squat

Open toes open mind

Start off by sitting on your heels with your toes tucked under. Make sure all toes are touching the floor, otherwise use your hands to tuck them (these little toes escape really easy!). Try to put the weigth on the balls of your feet instead of solely on the toes.

Exit this pose very slowly by leaning forwards onto the hands, lifting the hips forwards and releasing your toes.

It can feel really good to make some rotation with the ankles and shake out the toes. Sit back on your heels and relax for a moment feeling the effect of the pose.

Benefits

  • Opening of the toes and feet

  • Strengthens the ankles

  • Stimulates all 6 lower body meridians

Contra indications  / modifications and prop use

  • Knee issues: If there is too much pressure in the knees use a blanket underneath or lean on your hands while you're in the pose

  • IF there is lots of discomfort in the toes, you can sit on a block or lean on your hands

Alternative pose

Take the softer version by leaning on the hands
